BlockBeats News, August 31st, according to Decrypt's report, Dutch and U.S. law enforcement agencies have seized the online fake ID trading platform VerifTools. The marketplace sold counterfeit documents for as low as $9 in cryptocurrency, generating $6.4 million in revenue, making it one of the world's largest fraudulent identity document suppliers. VerifTools required users to upload a passport photo and enter fake data, which the website operators used to create fake ID documents. These documents were nearly indistinguishable from real ones, utilizing advanced techniques such as holograms and UV ink. Users ultimately paid for the forged IDs using cryptocurrency. The operation seized 23 servers, two domain names used by the VerifTools marketplace, and a promotional blog.
