What is Katana (KAT)? Premiere Listing for $KAT Spot Trading on WEEX
TGE on: March 18, 2026
Project Introduction: What is Katana?
Katana is a DeFi-first chain delivering deep liquidity and sustainable real yield, with chain-level ve(3,3). Simultaneously, Katana is a bespoke underlying network optimised specifically for DeFi.
- Core Mission: Katana (KAT)’s core philosophy lies in reshaping yield efficiency through highly aggregated liquidity by channelling on-chain liquidity into core protocols, which refers to making Morpho for lending and Sushi for trading, and builds a robust foundation for the ecosystem. Moreover, Katana ingeniously converts Vault Bridge yields, sequencer fees and Agora USD revenue into incentive mechanisms, delivering deep liquidity and substantial returns to users whilst ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem.
- Technical Infrastructure: Built on the Agglayer’s CDK OP Stack, Katana leverages a Geth-powered execution environment with ZK-proof settlement security. Its native integration with the Agglayer Unified Bridge ensures seamless, canonical connectivity to Ethereum and the broader L2 ecosystem.
- Team Composition: Alexander Chau is one of Katana’s leaders, who was ex-Polygon DeFi lead with 10-year TradFi veteran, bridging institutional banking expertise with cutting-edge blockchain infrastructure. Will Button is Katana core contributor, focusing on DevOps and Platform Engineering with 25+ years’ experience building scalable, high-performance tech ecosystems.
$KAT’s Utility and Tokenomics
Before trading on this premiere listing event, understanding the underlying tokenomics is essential. $KAT is a standard ERC-20 token and the native token of the Katana Foundation. It is fungible, transferable, and can be held in any Ethereum-compatible wallet. On the day of its premiere listing, the $KAT token serves as the backbone of its respective ecosystem with several key functions:
- Protocol Governance: $KAT is the primary governance token. Holders have the right to participate in protocol governance and vote on key decisions that shape the future of the network.
- Staking and Long-term Rewards: While this TGE does not include temporary promotional airdrops, the token is designed for long-term value. Holders can stake their tokens to align themselves with the growth of the protocol and earn token-based rewards over time.
- Fee Sharing and Sustainability: Once the protocol's fee switch is activated, revenues generated by the system will be distributed to token holders based on governance-defined parameters. This ensures that $KAT remains a yield-generating asset within the cryptocurrency market.
$KAT’s tokenomics is heavily weighted toward long-term sustainability, with the treasury holding the majority at 45.28% to support the protocol's future. Substantial portions are also dedicated to community and development, including 15.65% for team, advisors, and contractors, and 15.00% for airdrops and bounties. Liquidity remains a priority with 12.50% allocated to Liquidity Provisioning, while Ecosystem Incentives account for 10.00%. The remaining supply is divided among the public (1.00%) and marketing and operations (0.57%) to facilitate market entry and daily functional needs.
